About Me
Hi! I’m Krystal, also known as “Lil’ Tech Teacher”. I am currently the Technology Teacher in a K-5 elementary school on the West Coast. My hobbies include: watching anime, paddle boarding, playing video games, reading, cosplay, vibing to music, and travelling the world.
I have been teaching for 8 years now, with most of my roles being related to technology education. I started my career as an Applied Skills, Design, and Technology (ADST) Curriculum teacher where I collaborated with classroom teachers to connect the new curriculum through an ADST lens. I taught grade 4/5 for 2 years, moved into a Library/Makerspace position, until I posted into a Digital Learning assignment. I have been in this role for the last 4 years and it has been a dream job. Teaching students how to best utilize technology has long been my passion, and I am so grateful that my position allows me to constantly try new things with my students.
Some of the topics and materials my students have engaged with include:
- daily typing practice
- monthly typing assessments
- Digital Citizenship/Literacy
- Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Outlook)
- Block Coding
- Robotics
- Programming Microchips for STEAM projects
- Video game design
- District-hosted Minecraft Competitions
I am always looking to try new and interesting programs, materials, and teaching styles. My latest wish is to bring e-sports to my learning community and start a team to compete with other local schools.
